Job Purpose | Supervise and conduct pharmaceutics and/or pharmaceutical technology labs for undergraduate pharmacy students. Design and upgrade experiments in physical pharmacy, pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology. The faculty will also be required to engage in pharmaceutical research with students and provide university and community services. |
Main accountabilities & expectations | The candidate will be mainly responsible for teaching and management of practical sessions, this includes but is not limited to: - Prepare a checklist of materials, chemicals and glassware required for each practical session and supervise the teaching assistant in preparation of all required supplies.
- Make sure that all laboratory equipments are calibrated and properly operating before, during and after the practical session and report any problems to the course instructor.
- Place and follow up maintenance orders for defected equipments.
- Perform the required practical session prior to the lab in order to verify model answers for problems, experimental results and/or the properties of the required pharmaceutical preparation.
- Prepare and explain the practical session material to the students.
- Attend the students and supervise the practical session at all time.
- Management of the practical session.
- In case of emergencies, the lecturer is responsible for the safety of the students and should inform the course instructor and /or head of the department of such situation.
- Grade the students for their performance and quality of work during the practical sessions and grade the practical exams.
- Update the course file of the practical part of the course at the end of each semester and include all documents as predetermined.
- Submit periodical (weekly/biweekly) reports to the course instructor that contains information about the student attendance and performance in practical sessions, actually time taken by the students to perform the session and any remarks or unexpected problems that has occurred during the lab time.
- Carry out any other tasks related to the course/college assigned to him/her by the course instructor and/or head of department apart from practical sessions.

Preferred Qualification & Experience | BScs degree in Pharmacy; Master degree in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Technology; At least two publishedresearch papers in the field of pharmaceutics and/or pharmaceutical technology. Two years teaching experience in a reputable institution. |
