About Us
QIS is one of the best international schools both in the nation of Qatar and in the wider GCC area. Our students achieve some of the highest results in the region – and the world.

We follow the latest National Curriculum for England, and all our non-Arabic teachers have either taught or been trained under the UK system. We have about 2,000 students ranging from 3 to 18 years of age.

Our long and illustrious history traces its roots back over 40 years to 1977, making us the oldest British International School in the State of Qatar. Under the leadership of our Principal, Mr. Deane Baker (who joined us in September 2013), we have achieved Qatar National School’s Accreditation at the highest level. In addition, we received an excellent BSO report in October 2016 and hold numerous high achievement awards for our international examination success.

Education is highly valued in Qatar. This means our school enjoys working with extremely supportive parents and wonderfully enthusiastic, highly motivated students.

About You
Successful teaching applicants should hold a good degree from a UK university and a relevant teaching qualification, including UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). They should have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England – for Secondary teachers this must include a proven track record of supporting students through their IGCSE and A-Level exams.

We may also consider applications from strong newly-qualified teachers (NQTs), whom we can support through the full the duration of their NQT programme. This includes signing off for fully Qualified Teacher Status with the UK Department for Education due to our BSO status.

Arabic teaching staff must hold an appropriate Arabic qualification that is acceptable to Qatar’s Ministry of Education.

In addition to these qualifications and experience, we expect all our staff to have a positive, highly professional attitude and plenty of enthusiasm.

Working Here
Our staff are our most precious resource. The professional and personal welfare of our team are of utmost importance, so we offer one of the best employment packages around. For teaching staff, his includes:

A competitive, tax-free salary and end-of service gratuity.
Free annual return flights with initial and final excess baggage allowance.
High quality, fully furnished accommodation.
Comprehensive private medical cover.
Additional allowances for travel to work and utilities.
Generous paid annual leave, including Qatar public holidays.
Complete support with relocation to Qatar, including arrangement of all necessary paperwork, administration and additional financial support on arrival.
An unrivalled package of induction and continuous professional development, supported by our own UK-based appraisal system.
In addition, we pride ourselves on supporting our staff – both financially and with time – in their further education. We access the best training opportunities from all over the world, sending staff out and bringing highly skilled practitioners in. In 2017, QIS became the only Olevi Facilitation School in the Middle East and we offer these fully internationally accredited courses to all staff on a regular basis.

This means fantastic opportunities for promotion, salary increases and professional development as we continue to evolve and advance.

Moving to Qatar
The capital city of Doha offers a welcoming, vibrant and cosmopolitan lifestyle. It’s an easy city to move to – English is widely spoken, and you can find familiar brands of groceries, clothes and other home comforts in many shops.

Qatar is also one of the safest places in the world to live. Thanks to its central location and award-winning international airport, it’s often considered the traveller’s gateway to the world – many exciting destinations are within easy, affordable reach.

Families are extremely well catered for in a society that values children highly. Equally, however, those relocating on their own will discover Doha has plenty to offer in terms of nightlife, sports, pastimes, clubs and societies. The pace of change and development here means there is something new to discover almost every week.

Our supportive, experienced team are committed to ensuring new staff settle in as quickly and comfortably as possible.

Application Process
If you’d like to join our team, we’d love to hear from you. Please email your full CV and a covering letter to [email protected].

All applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed in the section ‘About you’. We will contact shortlisted candidates to arrange a Skype interview.
