Assistant Professor
Hekma School of Design and Architecture
Roles & Responsibilities:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
A faculty member in the Hekma School of Design and Architecture is expected to:
Teach undergraduate courses (lecture-based and studio-based) as per the program curriculum.
Advise assigned student advisees on their individual Plan of Study (POS) and approve registration plans. New full-time faculty members may be exempted from this duty during their first semester at the University.
Advise assigned student advisees on academic student policies.
Monitor academic progress of student advisees regarding passing/failing courses, dropping/adding courses, withdrawing from courses, academic probation, and to refer them to the Academic Support Services/Counseling services.
Participate in departmental functions, School and University committees.
Collaborate with Department Chairperson and faculty on curriculum planning and development.
Conduct scholarly research.
Supervise internship students when assigned this task.
Fulfill course requirements including, but not limited to the preparation of course syllabi, course specifications, course files and reports.
Mentor new faculty members.
Fulfill PMS annual objectives.
Seek discipline-based professional development to be aware of recent trends in the field of specialty.
Inspire and motivate the students about the future.
