College/Department Profile
Established
in 1980, the College of Engineering offers programs in the fields of
Civil, Architectural, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer
Engineering and Computer Science with the primary goal of preparing
Qatari engineers with outstanding scientific and technical competencies
to enable them to participate and contribute in the various
developmental aspects of the country. The Department of Civil and
Architectural Engineering utilizes advanced teaching and learning tools
and well equipped laboratories. The Civil
Engineering program is accredited by ABET which insures that the program
meets the standards and quality needed by the civil engineering
profession.
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position in Infrastructure Asset/Construction Management
Position Summary
The
Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering has an opening in the
area of Infrastructure Asset/Construction Management. Applications are
welcomed from applicants with an excellent track record of research and
teaching experience in any of the fields related to Civil Engineering
infrastructure management including: Risk and Resilience in relation to
Civil Engineering Infrastructure Assets throughout their Lifetime,
Predicting availability of the Assets and Asset Systems, Understanding
Asset and Asset Systems reliability, Degradation models (and the
associated maintenance, inspection and asset performance), Building
Information Modelling (BIM), Field BIM, Lean Construction, Construction
productivity, Construction procurement, Engineering and Construction
Contracts.
The applicant should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointed candidate will complement the existing faculty in the department and will develop and sustain funded research programs and publish in leading journals. The applicant should have a track record in collaborating or working with the industry through practical projects addressing the needs of the industry.
The highly competitive employment package is commensurate with experience and rank. It includes a 12-month tax-free salary, housing, private health insurance, transportation allowance, relocating expenses, financial support for school expenses of the faculty member’s children (up to three children), and two months of paid summer vacation including annual round-trip flight tickets as in line with the current Qatar University HR policies. Qualifications
The successful candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from a prestigious university. They should also have expertise in the relevant areas and a track record of scholarly activities in the field. English language is essential. Candidates with industrial experience will be looked at favorably. Experience in managing research projects and/or professional practices will also be advantageous.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position in Transportation Engineering
Position Summary
The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering has an opening in the area of Transportation Engineering. Applications are welcomed from applicants with a specialization within Transportation Engineering, especially from those with specialization in: Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Operations, Traffic Safety Analysis, Traffic Simulation, and Transportation Planning. The appointed applicant will teach in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and will have joint association with Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center at Qatar University to support the Center research and service to the industry. The applicant should have a track record in collaborating or working with the industry through practical projects such as Traffic Impact studies, Traffic simulation modelling, and Traffic Safety studies.
