الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة تحصل على الإعتماد من الأمريكي

أعلنت هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس (SACSCOC) رسمياً عن حصول الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة على الاعتماد المؤسسي خلال اجتماعها السنوي لعام 2018 الذي عُقد في نيو أورلينز بلويزيانا -الولايات المتحدة الامريكية.

تعدّ هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس (SACSCOC)، والتي تضم في عضويتها أكثر من 800 مؤسسة تعليمية، المؤسسة الإقليمية المسؤولة عن شؤون الإعتماد الأكاديمي لجميع مؤسسات التعليم العالي المانحة للدرجات العلمية كالدبلوم والبكالوريوس والماجستير، والدكتوراة في جنوب الولايات المتحدة. وتقوم الهيئة أيضاً بمنح الإعتماد لمؤسسات التعليم العالي خارج الولايات المتحدة الامريكية على أن تمتثل لجميع متطلباتها وتثبت الالتزام بمعايير الاعتماد الخاصة بها. فحصول أي جامعة على الاعتماد من قبل هيئة الجامعات للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس يدل أن هذه الجامعة تعتمد رسالة مناسبة للتعليم العالي، وأنها تملك الموارد والبرامج والخدمات الكافية لإتمام هذه الرسالة وضمان إستدامتها؛ وأنها تسعى لتحقيق أهداف تعليمية محددة بشكل واضح بما يتفق مع رسالتها وملائمة متطلبات الحصول على الشهادات العلمية التي تقدمها، والتأكد ما إذا كانت ناجحة في تحقيق أهدافها المعلنة. كما يتطلّب أيضاً قيام المؤسسة التعليمية بتوثيق وإثبات جودة وفعالية برامجها وخدماتها كافة. وعلى الرغم من أن الهيئة لا تمنح الاعتماد للبرامج بطـريقة فردية. ومع نيلها الاعتماد، تنضم الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة إلى مجموعة صغيرة من نخبة مؤسسات التعليم العالي الدولية الحاصلة على اعتماد الرابطة الجنوبية مما يتيح لها التمتع بالمزايا المتنوعة التي توفرها العضوية في هذه الرابطة.

يُشار الى أن الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة هي مؤسسة تعليمٍ عالٍ غير ربحية ومملوكة لحكومة إمارة رأس الخيمة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وتقدم الجامعة للمجتمع المحلي والإقليمي والدولي أسلوباً متكاملاً للتعليم الجامعي ومماثلا لما هو معمول به في أمريكا الشمالية مع تركيز كبير على الثقافة المحلية الاصيلة. وهي معتمدة من قبل وزارة التربية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وتقدم ما مجموعه 22 برنامجاً من برامج البكالوريوس والدراسات العليا عبر مجموعة واسعة من التخصصات.  

وعلى الرغم من تمتعها بالاعتماد المحلي الأساسي، عقدت الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة العزم على توسيع نطاق تأثيرها في مجال التعليم العالي من خلال السعي للحصول على الاعتماد من المؤسسات والهيئات العلمية الدولية إذ تملك حتى تاريخه ستة برامج معتمدة من قبل مجلس الاعتماد الأمريكي للهندسة والتكنولوجيا (ABET)  بالإضافة الى الاعتماد المؤسسي الذي حصلت عليه مؤخرا من قبل هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس.

و قد دأبت الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة بجهد منذ عام 2014 للحصول على الإعتماد من قبل هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس (SACSCOC)، ونجحت في الحصول على حق الترشح من الهيئة في يوليو 2017. وقد أدى هذا الترشح إلى وضع الجامعة أمام مراجعة صارمة وشاملة في زيارة ميدانية قامت بها لجنة الاعتماد الخاصة بالهيئة. و قد شكّل هذا الإعلان إنجازاً رائعاً استغرق أربع سنوات. وهو يبرهن عن مثابرة وعزم والتزام الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة على تحقيق التميز في جميع برامجها لما فيه مصلحة طلابها وأفراد الهيئة التعليمية والموظفين وجميع المتعاملين مع الجامعة.

وقد أعرب البروفيسور حسن حمدان العلكيم، رئيس الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة عن سعادته واعتزازه بهذا الإنجاز وحصول الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة على صفة الاعتماد من قبل هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية للجامعات والكليات والمدارس فقد قال: "لقد تحقق حلم طويل الأمد والهدف المنشود في وقت قياسي إذ كان التقرير المقدم من اللجنة ليس إيجابيا فحسب بل خال من أية توصيات أو ملاحظات. واليوم، أصبحت الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة من أولى الجامعات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا التي تحقق بنجاح عملية الاعتماد الكامل لتصبح عضوا فاعلا كمؤسسة تعليمية في هيئة الجامعات التابعة للرابطة الجنوبية في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. ويؤكد على أن الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة لم تعد مؤسسة ذات جودة عالية بين المؤسسات التعليمية العربية فحسب، بل أيضاً على المستوى الدولي. كما يشكّل نيلنا هذا الإعتماد المرموق إثباتاً لما أكدنا عليه مرارا بأننا نوفر للطلبة مناهج أكاديمية نوعية عالية الجودة على يد مجموعة من أعضاء هيئة التدريس المرموقين الذين حرصنا دائما على استقطابهم ودعمهم. لقد نجحت الجامعة الأمريكية في رأس الخيمة على الرغم من حداثتها، في وrقت زمني قياسي قصير جداً، من تحقيق ما عجزت عن القيام به مؤسسات تعليمية أخرى خلال عقود من الزمن."

AURAK Gains SACSCOC Accreditation

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, December 15, 2018-(AETOSWire)- The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) officially announced the accreditation of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) at its 2018 Annual Meeting which was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States of America.

SACSCOC, the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern United States, has a membership of more than 800 institutions in the Southern states and other international sites approved by SACSCOC that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and/or doctoral degrees. SACSCOC also awards accreditation to other international institutions of higher education that satisfy all its requirements and demonstrate compliance with its accreditation standards. AURAK now joins the very small group of elite international higher education institutions that have attained SACSCOC accreditation and can enjoy the diverse benefits of membership in this highly revered organization.

“Accreditation by SACSCOC signifies that the institution has a mission appropriate to higher education, has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees its offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.”

“The culmination of the accreditation process is a public statement of an institution’s continuing capacity to provide effective programs and services based on agreed-upon requirements. AURAK is a nonprofit, government-owned institution of higher education which provides the local, regional and international communities with a North American-style education integrated with Arabic customs and traditions. It is licensed by the Ministry of Education in the UAE and offers a total of 22 accredited undergraduate and graduate programs across a wide range of disciplines. Despite having this primary local accreditation, AURAK was determined to broaden its impact in higher education by obtaining internationally recognized institutional and program accreditations. To date, the institution has six programs accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and institutional accreditation by SACSCOC. It should be noted that in the case of institutional accreditation by SACSCOC, an institution is also expected to document and demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of all its programs and services although the agency does not award individual program accreditation.

AURAK has been working diligently towards obtaining SACSCOC accreditation since 2014 and successfully achieved candidacy status in July of 2017. This paved the way for the institution to undergo even more rigorous and comprehensive onsite review by a SACSCOC Accreditation Committee. The Committee found the institution to be in compliance with all accreditation standards and requirements. Further internal reviews were conducted by SACSCOC in keeping with its multi-tiered peer review process, the culmination of which was AURAK obtaining SACSCOC accreditation.

This was a formidable achievement that was four years in the making. It demonstrates the tenacity, determination and commitment of AURAK to achieving excellence in all its undertakings – for its students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.

The report is positive and clear.” Professor Hassan beamed proudly during the declaration of AURAK’s SACSCOC accreditation status. “Today AURAK is among the first universities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to successfully initiate and complete the entire accreditation process as an applicant institution to secure membership from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), affirming that AURAK is not only as an institution of quality among Arabic educational institutions, but also on an international level as well. This accreditation validates our claims of providing students with a highly rigorous curriculum from the credentialed and highly knowledgeable faculty we have always strived to hire and support. AURAK has achieved in a very short time what some other institutions have failed to do in decades.
