JOB PURPOSE
We invite applications for the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Islamic Civilization، College of Arts، Humanities and Social Sciences.
The appointee should be able to support the Department of History and Islamic Civilization to capitalise on the significant progress it has made so far and contribute to the academic life of the University of Sharjah، nationally and internationally. The appointee(s) should be able to enrich the Department's research agenda، expand its teaching programs، and undertake graduate supervision.

Applications are sought from eminent candidates who can enhance the Department's research، education، and societal impact within the field of Arab modern and Contemporary History.
Research and teaching in the Department are methodologically and theoretically diverse، and we expect candidates to be able and willing to engage in intellectual exchanges across a range of Arab history topics within the discipline.

Teaching in the field of specialization for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Academic advising for students.
Conducting scientific research in the field of specialization.
Contributing to the activities and committees of the department.
Supporting the activities that serve the university and the community.
Contributing to the efforts of academic accreditation and quality concerns.

JOB SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES -
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to develop and lead high-quality research.
Good skills in using computers.
Fluency in Arabic and English languages (speaking and writing).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Ph.D in Arab Modern & Contemporary History from one of the recognized universities.
Experience in university teaching in the field of specialization.
Published in high quality refereed journals in the speciality in SCOPUS Q1.
Good knowledge of academic accreditation requirements and procedures.

In addition to the above-required qualifications، selection criteria include the general duties attached to the position:
Providing an ongoing high level of personal commitment to، and achievement in، a particular scholarly area.
Conducting research and assisting with the development of research policy in the department.
Fostering the research groups and individuals within the Department، and the College of Arts، Humanities and Social Sciences.
Contributing to teaching، including developing courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels، and the delivery of lectures.
Acting as Advisor to students in the undergraduate programs، and research students.
