Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has been dedicated to offering internationally benchmarked undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has become one of the region’s leading centers of academic excellence. We have a vibrant and cosmopolitan student population of around 6,000 students from over 60 nationalities enrolled in 32 undergraduate programs and 24 postgraduate programs, including our prestigious DBA. ADU is the only private higher education institution in the UAE and the region to receive international accreditation and institutional recognition from the “Western Association of Schools and Colleges: Senior College and University Commission – WSCUC”.
The College of Engineering (CoE) offers a range of engineering and technology programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with new and innovative programs being introduced on an ongoing basis. The CoE grew rapidly in the number of programs offered, number of faculty, and number of students. Today, the College has become the largest engineering college in the UAE. It with over 2,700 students served by over 56 full-time faculty, 10 adjunct faculty, 16 full-time teaching and lab assistants, and 6 staff members. The curricula of our programs are designed according to international standards and best practices in world-class universities. Engineering and IT programs in the College that have already graduated more than one cohort of students have either received, or expected to receive in a couple of months, ABET accreditation. Our dedicated faculty are prudently chosen from top engineering schools in North America and Europe. Our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities provide a great environment for student learning. The department of Architecture and Design, College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University invites candidate in the field to apply for a regular full time/visiting position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the interior design program for the Fall semester of the academic year 2021-22 which starts September 2021. The program is accredited by the ministry of high education.
Applicants’ qualifications requirement to apply:
Experienced in design, execution and managing Interior Design projects.
Experience with digital tools
Fluent in the English language
Ability to work with students and colleagues from different culture and background
Use technology and innovative ways of teaching within design studio, experimental, prototyping and testing, practices
The candidate is expected to teach design studios as well as a selected technical topic of building technology, lighting /acoustics and building systems at the level of undergraduate and post graduate.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A PhD in interior design or closely related field from an accredited institution.
A record of outstanding teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level relevant to the academic rank.
A record of excellent research and scholarly work with strong potential for publications.
Familiarity with the new teaching methods and media, visual communication, e-learning, and the need to equip students with the varied skills to succeed in in their career.
A commitment to the importance of scholarship and diversity.
All applicants will submit a work portfolio documenting education and professional work.
Expected Experience:
Ideally, Five years’ experience in teaching in aaccredited higher education institute
International exposure
Experience in quality assurance, developing course specifications as per the national qualification frameworks and international accreditation standards
Industrial experience in Interior Design, architecture and construction companies, production, furniture design, material specs or any other relevant domain is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Support the vision, mission of the university and applies its policies and procedures
Contribute in enriching the existing body of research with well-defined research area and interest.
Design course syllabi, and engage in activities that will enhance the development of the Interior Design program
Produce lesson plans, prepare exams, and develop material related to the courses taught
Serve in committees at the university and college levels
