| JOB PURPOSE | Assistant or Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Basic Medical Sciences Department, College of Medicine to teach Biochemistry for medical students within an integrated, Problem based curriculum and perform research at the University Medical Research Center.

| MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS | - Teach theoretical and practical biochemistry component for different organ-systems modules in
innovative medical curriculum. - Conduct high quality research work in her/his field of interest.
- Be able to secure research grants from internal and external funding agencies.
- Maintain scholarship and professional development within area of expertise.
- Actively participate in relevant professional activities in order to improve teaching and subject matter competence.
- Undergo training to qualify as a facilitator in the problem-based learning program.
- Advise undergraduate students.
- Active participation in departmental assignments, university committees, and student activities.
- Serve in faculty committees as appointed or elected.
- Participate in other activities as assigned by the Department Chair or College Dean.

| PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE | PhD (or equivalent) in medical biochemistry and a first degree in medical related sciences (preferably MBBS or MD). |

| COMPETENCIES | Prospective applicants holding PhD or equivalent with an excellent record of academic performance, and demonstrated expertise in Biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have : - The ability to relate Biochemistry to clinical scenarios.
- Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
- Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.
- Has a good record in research publications.
- At least 2 years teaching experience for assistant professor and 5 years teaching experience for associate professor in higher education institutions, medical/health sciences.
- Experience in Problem Based Learning is highly desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (In English).
- Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective professor-student interactions during both one-on-one (student advising) and in group (classroom) sessions.
- Sincere interest in assisting each students within a diverse and multi-cultural community to maximize their academic, spiritual and personal potential.
- Team player that is motivated to strengthen and advance the department continuous growth.
