About Fujairah Private Academy
Fujairah Academy is a fee paying school for boys and girls from 3.5-18 years of age. There are currently approximately 500 students, with 120 in the Senior Section. Entry is by interview with parents and children. Or in the case of students applying from overseas, a last school report, good conduct certificate and in certain cases an admission test. Students from Year 4 and above are required to have English Language skills at a level commensurate with their age and from Senior 1 (Year 7) a test of English and Mathematical competency should be taken.
The origin of Fujairah Academy was in the 1980's, as a small Primary school located on a site near the beach. In 1990 the school was extended to provide an education for students of Secondary age and as the school expanded a purpose built campus was built. This has been fully operational since April 2003.
The school is a non-profit making organisation owned by the Government of Fujairah, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah. A British style education is offered in a bilingual setting with the student body currently comprising 80% UAE and nationals from the Arab world, 20% from western and Asian countries.
The National Curriculum of England and Wales is followed in core areas and students are prepared for the Edexcel GCSE, GCE AS and A2 level examinations. The Thanawia Ama equivalency is available for Emirati and other students of Arab nationality. The Key Stage 2 & 3 SAT's are taken and most students leave for higher education at the end of Year 12 or Year 13, mainly to the U.K., U.S.A, or U.A.E. The school is an institution in which people from a wide variety of nationalities and cultural backgrounds work together. Each student in regarded as an individual and we aim to provide a purposeful and friendly atmosphere for their academic and personal growth. Creativity and individual enthusiasm are valued here, as are tolerance and co-operation.
All teachers at Fujairah Academy have qualified teacher status with most coming from the UK. Qualified Arabic staff teach Arabic and Islamic Studies.
The school provides a stimulating atmosphere in which to learn. Students learn to work together in a community based on mutual respect and a desire to engage with the world beyond the school. Children mature into confident adults, aware of their own strengths and interests, able to take responsibility for themselves and others.
